  1. Love these Toyotas. Especially the MR2 which brings back memories of my 1986 MR2. In 1986 at the ripe age of 22 I bought my first new car, 1986 MR2 with a 5 speed manual. previous gen. More boxier. Red with rear spoiler wing. 112 hp. 1.6 L engine Non Turbo. 4 valves/cylinder. Blast to drive. I kept that car for 7 years, sold it in 1993 w 73k miles and never changed the brake pads nor rotors. I always downshifted and “engine braked”. In hindsight, Probably not the best thing to do. The only maintenance I did was change the oil every 3000 miles and flushed out the radiator once. car needed nothing except a change of tires. In hindsight, I should’ve stuck with Toyota from that point on. 30 years later and my current car is a 2002 Lexus ES300 w 179k miles and it’s as good as new.
