I grew up in the seventies. When i would complain about anything my mom would say I should be thankful I wasn't a thalidomide baby. Not in a mean way, but in the way parents would tell their kids that there are starving kids in Africa that would love to have the meal they were eating. It sounds cliche, but be thankful for every fortune in your life.
