@kdawson020279 The number of AM carriers heard on 10m from SE Asia these days is phenomenal - they're even on top of the IBP segment so it can be hard to hear the beacons at times. Still, when paths open up the amateur radio signals usually drown out these pirates.

@ephektz Probably no-one hurt him, but it's just a correction of the terminology. Amateur radio operators don't refer to themselves as HAM radio operators, instead Ham Radio Operators (if it needs capitalising) or just ham radio operators. There should be no shame associated with getting something right or pointing out a correction to someone - even if it is increasingly an acceptable (and desirable by some people) societal norm in the West to stuff things up.

@ephektz Well he did say please in his request. I don't see many references by amateur radio operators to themselves as HAM operators, but instead Ham operators - people not familiar with the term might be wondering what HAM stands for, but it's not an acronym for anything. As I said, it doesn't cost much to be correct, and I think that was the intent of the original post. BTW, referring to someone via pejorative terms such as snowflake and goofy does imply some form of disrespect and intention to hurt.

@ephektz You got it right that time. It's a pity people don't just say that right up front instead of saying "no disrespect intended" while actually intending disrespect. It's like one of the great euphemisms of our time: just saying, e.g. "I'm not being critical but <blah, blah, blah, insert critical comment here>, just saying." The moment I hear or read that, a big sign comes up saying "Warning: dishonest person ahead!"

During WW2, my grandparents lived near an airport which was used by USAAF aircraft. One day an aircraft lost a wheel which demolished the laundry. The Americans visited, apologised profusely, and built a new laundry using this new material called "fibro" (asbestos cement sheet). By the time they finished, the laundry was worth more than the house! :D
