Or the one in the attack on Sydney Harbour which wasn't found until 2006.

It would've been pronounced "Yustin". Maybe it's a log entry indicating that the pilot is almost able to close the hatch on their mini-submarine, or that they've just entered the submarine: "Just in Bieber"?

Torpedo explosions are not small ... and the hydrostatic forces released by one could easily damage the hulls of 11 mini-submarines moored together, especially in relatively shallow water and against a dock.

@bigblue6917 The vast majority of submarines have electric boats one way or the other, whether nuclear-powered or conventionally-powered.

@ianmacfarlane1241 The battery technology existed at the time. The larger submarines all ran off batteries when submerged (+), the difference being that they surfaced and recharged the batteries using generators driven by diesel engines. The diesel engines could also be used to drive the boat on the surface. (+ Some boats, especially later German U-boats, were equipped with snorkels which allowed them to use the diesels at periscope depth.) Battery bank dimensioning for a given boat size/type depends on the required submerged boat speed (dependent on power plant, drag, etc) and the required endurance (dependent on time submerged and operating speed, etc).
