@dhowe5180 Quite possibly. It could have been that his family had died during the war, so there was no-one back "home" to contact. Plenty of German men were released from non-Soviet prison camps at war's end and headed home, only to find that home was a heap of rubble and their family was dead long ago.

@raymondtonns2521 These people probably never recover mentally from their wartime experiences.

@AndrewAMartin Fascinating. I would never had known about this otherwise. Thanks for contributing!

@raymondtonns2521 As I posted in another comment thread, plenty of POWs were released after the war and headed home, only to find that home was a pile of rubble and their family had died.

Could you please fill in the rest of the story so that some of us readers don't leap to incorrect conclusions?

@GruntTV1776 LOL yes! He needs to turn out a whole series of videos about Die Glocke, and do a few more about secret Nazi bases on the Moon. And of course the Nazi space monkeys ...

@beneficent2557 Why the interventionist wars? Money, and maintaining a lifestyle. For example, if you think the price of fuel in the USA is high now, imagine how much higher it would've been and from a much earlier date if Bush Jnr hadn't gone into Iraq. Any US president knows that one of the fastest ways to lose office is to let the cost of filling the SUV's tank go up too much. This is why I am predicting that Biden won't survive the next election.

@jceepf That certainly helps explain why one of the RSL Branches in the 1980s voted to continue the ban on any Japanese or Koreans from entering the building. At the time I could understand their sentiment about the Japanese, but including Koreans had me surprised at the time, given how Australian forces had participated in the Korean War.
