  1.  @TyrSkyFatherOfTheGods  Your comment reminded me about a documentary interview with an American fighter pilot who flew in the Pacific campaign. He recalled attacking a flight of small twin seater Japanese aircraft flying in formation - he shot down all four of them from just below aft of the flight. The last one the gunner (sitting behind the pilot and facing aft) fired at him and wounded him, but shortly after that the American pilot shot the Japanese plane down, but killed the gunner first. The American pilot - some 50 years later - said he still remembers the Japanese gunner's face, and sees him every night just after he falls asleep. Imagine living with that for 50+ years? ☹️

  8. Yes, some Victoria Crosses have been sold at auction. Thankfully some have been bought by war memorials etc instead of private collectors so that the general public can see them.
