  3. The Pacific is like that. There are places there which were pivotal in that campaign in WW2, but nowadays are forgotten. With the island hopping nature of the campaign, today's bloody battle field would become a backwater in a few months time, and not even warrant visits by ships or aircraft because the campaign had moved on.

  6.  @garrygemmell5676  It's not only British people. Trolls exist in every country. You could be forgiven for feeling sorry for them, experiencing life in such a way that they derive pleasure from trying to tear down others.

  10.  @olliefoxx7165  The problem is that a lot of people don't realise that these wars are waged to support their way of life. Any US president knows not to let the price of oil rise so that it's more costly to fill up the SUV for the weekend trip away ... and that's why they went to Iraq - not to get the WMDs which were never found, but to control the oil. But it was dressed up as "keeping us safe" so that people would go along with it. So the wars may not be supported openly or overtly, but there would be anger at home with the alternative result of not going to war.
