@AtheAetheling Your statement regarding how the RAF would have adapted if Luftwaffe fighters were operating separately from the bombers is a good point. Radar was the force multiplier which allowed the RAF to concentrate its hitting power where and when needed. If the fighters had been allowed to "boom and zoom" then the RAF could've concentrated on the fighters, zapped a lot of them, and then gone after the bombers after the fighter numbers had been depleted. Another good point is a downed German pilot is lost to the Luftwaffe, as they're either dead or a POW. A downed RAF pilot was either dead, injured (and hopefully recuperable) or returned to duty.

@MaxwellAerialPhotography Television channel / network program directors have a lot to answer for ... and at the top of the list is taking the viewers (the actual Customers, as opposed to the advertisers) for granted and trying to ram any old rubbish down their collective throats when and how it suits them.
