@Anmeteor9663 Interesting. Is anyone allowed to possess a handgun in the UK for competition purposes? Here in Australia the gun laws tightened up at the national level after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996. Previously the laws were different between states and territories, which made for complications when crossing borders, i.e. what was legal in one place was illegal just over the border. People here can own handguns for competition purposes. They can also own rifles and shotguns for various purposes, ranging from competition through to livelihood (e.g. pest control, farming). All that is needed is a "Valid Reason" and no history of violent offences, etc. The Australian population agreed to the unified gun laws introduced in 1996. We've had 10 federal elections since then and no party seeking to relax the gun laws has gained government or been able to influence the government of the day. The "Shooters Fishers and Farmers" party is probably the main proponent of relaxed gun laws. But its arguments for that are often eroded on a routine basis by headlines from the USA, e.g. what happened in Texas this month.
