The main problem is not about losing the job, it is not having enough savings.
Mortgage payments (biggest reasons)
Car loans
=money in and then money out = no savings
If ppl didnt take out mortgage (rent instead) and didn't own a car (car loans), one can have enough savings and only start a family if the guys has at least 2 million in the bank (1st tier city). One should NOT mortgage until he/she can paid 80%. And then mortgage the 20%. For me, that is my rule. The 80/20 rule. Not everyone can achieve this.
When l lost my job, during the pandemic, i found another job, but was a pay cut of 25%. Luckily, l was able to do private tutoring both online and online, which brought in extra income. But i had to work 6 days. Luckily I had many clients, each willing to pay 500 for online to 1000 per hour for offline and bc of the pandemic, my client list was stable, easily making up the lost 25% from my primary job, ended earning 250k rmb.
