International school is a way to escape the chinese Education path. With Interntional school, it is a path to western education.

@shadowmod3 International school is for the rich, costing upwards of 80-200,00+ a year. A family combine income of 10k (without any mortgages on house/car payments) is difficult. Parents with international kids knows they don't want to go to the Chinese system, due to BIG classes, and weak English systems. It can be true that it is useless, but those parents who have the funds want their kid to have a western education system, as their goal is to go aboard for school. It is mostly buying experience. Once their kid has a foreign degree, they can brag to their friends, who make less than them and/or their kid will take over the family business.
