I hope that people remember that a very very large percentage of men in the US are starved for touch and starved for any kind of affectionate attention.

What you’re saying has nothing to do with actual neo-liberalism. It’s just a handful of online talkers. Ignore them. Besides, the left isn’t going to accept you unless you’re insane.

A quiet quitter shows up on time, not early. They leave when work is over, no later. They eat during their lunch break instead of working through it. They don’t pick up extra shifts, they use the time off they’re allowed, they use vacation time they’re given, and they fulfill their job description. What is lazy about that?

@hettyherz 1. If someone goes from job to job fulfilling their job requirements and not wasting extra time for no extra money, then good for them. 2. It is absolutely 100% normal and common to change jobs frequently. This is not the boomer days, where the path to success was to stay with the same company forever. The only option for promotions and raises and better pay and better jobs for the last 25 years has been to stay in one spot for a couple years and then leave for a better, higher paying job. 3. It might be your experience, but that’s anecdotal and has no relation to the larger sample. Quiet quitters are skillful at doing exactly what the job requires and they avoid being fired, because they do the job correctly. No one is going to get fired for refusing to stay late and work for free. 4. I think you’re still looking at quiet quitters as lazy. Most quiet quitters are former overachievers who got nothing in return, and has scaled back to just doing their jobs and then going home. There is no quitting involved except for quitting working extra for free. 5. A person who quits without notice just quits without notice. Quiet quitters are not known to quit without notice. They’ve found a work-life balance, so why quit a job where you’ve found a work-life balance?

If someone is making 6 figures with it, then it’s not a hobby.

@MrDillon2029 There are people who do make six figures doing it. Deny that?

@MrDillon2029 Why don’t you look it up on the internet, boomer?

They’re not. They’re the ones going home when work is over and now showing up hours early, and working through their lunchtimes, and picking up extra work for zero pay. They’re the ones that have a work-life balance.

Going above and beyond was the path to successful for boomers. They got rewarded with more pay, promotions, etc. Millennials got rewarded with more work.
