I remember going to sleep thinking “wow, a Republican governor was actually elected in California.” Then in the wee hours of the morning they started backfilling Newsom with the required magical votes needed to beat Cox and the pretty boi psychopath Newsom was declared the winner. Exact same thing happened in the 2020 presidential election.
