Probably would have been an ideal time to inform everyone of our own Sun's demise, expected in about 4 billion years. Where it will most certainly engulf Earth. It has long be known that we do in fact need to populate another planet, even if that's merely sending our DNA there (ideally microscopic living molecules). Ideally some type of life that could stay dormant for millions or billions of years, since it will need to do that to survive the travel time to another planet. If you think about it, such microscopic molecules could have originally been sent to Earth, mind you scientists are more swayed towards life beginning on Earth (this due to how many times its been wiped out here, and subsequently began again). If some type of intelligent predecessor extra terrestrial life was the cause for life on Earth, then I feel we should come to realize that all their knowledge was clearly lost or not sent to us in this process. That's a bit sad really as they likely knew that once humans (of some sort) evolved here, they had to again go through the dumb theistic era of absurd outdated God beliefs - so annoying!
