Qualified immunity only protects against civil liability. A cop acting illegally will face criminal charges regardless. Styx is a dipshyt leftist on qualified immunity.

@jtjames79 ok avoiding the larp revolutionary talk, what would you rather have: millions in your account or 1 cop paying out a settlement for the rest of his life? Qualified immunity protects against civil liability only, not criminal liability. If the cop acted illegally and is found guilty he'll be in jail. Whether he's found guilty or not is another argument. And if you want to play it's all tax dollars then what would you rather spend: 40k-ish per year to imprison a cop or millions directly to the family?
