But as soon as Biden said "black," Republicans thought it was the greatest insult and immediately questioned qualifications. Why is that? I'd really like to know.

Question: what could the "other side" possibly have to say. Also, we would have already heard the "other side", but Trump's allies spent all their time pleading the 5th during their taped interviews.

@RickRoss440 But not a soul complained when Republicans did it. Not a single Republican was upset that Trump promised to nominate a woman. No one questioned qualifications. Not even you. But when Democrats promise to nominate a black woman, it's the ultimate insult. It might just be my perception, but Republicans seem to be on a neverending mission to always be anti-black.

@martin deano Yes, I am black. And yes, I did vote for Joe Biden. In fact, I largely agree with what Biden said, seeing as Trump is every white supremacist's favorite president.

Biden put his plan out for reducing the deficit months ago. He refused to talk to McCarthy for months because Republicans cannot be rewarded for holding the economy hostage to get stuff they should have negotiated during the yearly budgeting process. Everything Republicans do nowadays is so extreme. You are not supposed to negotiate with hostage takers.

What Republicans were demanding was pretty extreme. 25 percent of the debt came from Trump, but they didn't think debt was an emergency until a Democrat was in the White House. Now they demand massive cuts or they will crash the economy.

@user-rv2zu1vb2c In actuality, there is no requirement to pick the "best person available". Supreme Court Justices are appointed almost completely based on status and connections. For the first 200 years of this nation's history, presidents made sure to ONLY appoint white men. "Best person available" was NEVER a requirement, seeing as anyone who wasn't a white male was instantly disqualified. The only time that argument arises is when it is a person of color. How many people questioned if Kavanagh or Gorsuch were the "best person available"? Not a soul. They were smart, well-connected, and conservative so they got the job.

Well at least she didn’t separate kids from their parents at the border. To me, that is evil. To me, impeaching a President for breaking election law by soliciting foreign help for his own election is not evil. It is the right thing to do. Donald Trump is a criminal and Republicans are choosing not to care

@moonpie2637 If you think reading every bill that comes up for a vote if a good use of your time, have at it. Seeing as I dont get paid to read bills like those who work in Congress, I am content with being reasonably well informed by just reading the summary. But if reading entire bills is what floats your boat, maybe you should become a lawyer or apply to be a congressional aide so you can actually get paid for your efforts.

@moonpie2637 Exactly, you didn't read the bill. You didn't even know how many pages it was until I brought it up. Mr "I'm so informed and hate authority" repeating word for word what his Republican authorities said. The number of bored trolls on this platform seems to be increasing exponentially.

Past nominations were not color blind though. Throughout history, nearly all presidents have made sure to ONLY pick white men for court positions. They wouldn't dream of picking a woman or a minority. But as soon as someone mentions diversifying the court because it's the right thing to do, everyone is concerned about "reverse discrimination." Why is that? Are we just supposed to wait 50 years for it to happen because it's too "controversial"? Supreme Court justices are nominated largely based on status and connections, so it's not hard to imagine it taking another 50 years to see a black female by being "color blind." I agree that election might be better.

@RickRoss440 Hahah, yes you are. Not a Republican on earth complained when Trump promised to replace RGB with a woman. The Republican dream had always been to have a woman on their side when they use the Court to ban abortion. Better for optics than having a bunch of old men tell women nationwide what they can and can't do with their bodies. So, now, you had ZERO problems with Trump promising a woman. I don't even need to know you to know that. And I don't expect you to feel shame in your hypocrisy. Just don't lie to yourself like that. It's okay to admit that you don't want to see a black woman on the court, no matter how qualified.

@Steve13lb12oz You mention percentages. There have been 115 justices on the Supreme Court. 2 have been black, 5 have been women. Of all those 108 white men who have served on the court over the past 232 years and made so much law, half of them weren't even judges before they were appointed. So you certainly can't lecture anybody about "qualifications." Clearly you only care about percentages and "qualifications" when it suits you. You had no complaints about our long history of white men being the beneficiaries of affirmative action for 200+ years. But only now do you want to complain. Wonder why?

@papaagidi2838 Pretty sure Democrats had good reason to protest against Republican nominees. Considering they stole Obama's pick after delaying his pick for a year and then rushed Amy Coney Barrett just days before an election that Republicans lost. If I was a Democratic senator, I'd be sooooo furious. Republicans jacked two seats from them just because they could.

@papaagidi2838 No, politics is NOT a game. It is people's lives. If Democrats did what Republicans did, you'd spend years complaining about how corrupt it was. But because you think of it as a game, you just throw your morals out the window. That win at all costs attitude is immature and is the main reason for all the polarization we have today. It's also the reason so many Republicans are in, or on their way to prison.

@papaagidi2838 I count hundreds of Republicans who have been charged with crimes in the Capitol riot. Some minor, some serious. Many already in prison. Win at all costs. I count 2 impeachments of your favorite president for trying to steal the 2020 election. Win at all costs. I count at least 7 Trump henchmen who were convicted of felonies while doing his bidding (several lucky ones were pardoned by Trump on his way out the door). Win at all costs. I count at least 14 state Republicans officials under investigation by the FBI and Congress for submitting fake Electoral College votes. Win at all costs. I count a criminal investigation of Trump for trying to pressure election officials in Georgia to "find" votes and "recalculate" the total. Win at all costs. I could go on..

@papaagidi2838 The only people who view the summer of 2020 as "Democrat riots" pretty clearly have a problem with black people. To people who aren't racist, it had nothing to do with politics. It was about police brutality. Thanks for giving this black man yet another reason to never trust Republicans to look out for my well being. Party of white people, for white people, and no one else.

@papaagidi2838 Btw, how does it feel to be in a party that doesn't like people that look like you? You get honor of being used as their token 100% black friend so they can say they're not racist. Every Republican in 2022: "I have a black friend (son-in-law, cousin, nephew, adopted son, etc.), so I can pass all my favorite discriminatory policies."

@america1st721 Cheney and Kinzinger are not "never Trumpers". They just happen to feel that what Trump did on Jan 6 was wrong. If that's all it takes to make you a "never Trumper", then I think we can feel comfortable calling his supporters a cult. And all this cult cares about is winning, so they can then proceed to tear down the government from the inside.

@henryroman5415 Ahem, clearly you didn't watch the hearing yourself. The part about there being weapons was from police audio and video from the day. BEFORE THE RALLY. And Trump was told by his advisors. He wanted them to take the metal detectors down because they weren't there to hurt HIM. Also, she never said to the best of her recollection. She was there. You were not. Shocking that you accuse me of not watching the hearings when you clearly didn't actually watch them yourself.

Anothe crime for pressuring elections officials to tamper with the vote with the phone call to "find" him the exact number of votes he would need to beat Biden in Georgia. And depending on how much more proof they gather on his intentions at the Capitol, seditious conspiracy. He IS guilty. Whether or not you want him to be held accountable. Presidents cannot be allowed to simply overturn elections they lost and install themselves in power like some kind warlord. He must be held accountable for his dereliction of duty.

@willmont8258 Hillary wasn't charged because there was no evidence of criminal intent. But some people purposely act like they can't understand that. Trump is in trouble because he refused to return the documents after being asked for 18 months and lied to and deceived the FBI.

@TwinGoats No one is "quick to fight." Almost the entire world is against this war. In case you didn't notice, Russia STARTED this war. UNPROVOKED. Against one of our ALLIES. If we can spend as much money on Israel as we have done for decades, we and the rest of the world can afford to save Ukraine from being taken over by the terrorist leading Russia. I bet while you're saying Russia is not an enemy (it's not 1935), you would be saying the exact opposite about China. And the reason is because you secretly WANT Russia to win. Then you'll blame Biden for Ukraine's fall. It's sickening.

@Steven-nu7jc It may seem divisive to say it to people who just want everyone to get along, but a BIG part of the GOP's appeal is an underlying contempt for people of color (especially black people and immigrants). It's hard to believe Donald Trump would have ever been elected if that weren't true. Or that his loss would cause the GOP to totally lose their minds. Or them attacking Kamala Harris on a daily basis for simply existing in the VP spot (which literally has no job duties).

Nancy Pelosi refused extra security that day Notice how all of these excuses avoid blaming the people who actually committed the attack.
