The Republicans ARE doing a stunt. New York's level of crime is not high at all compared to most other large cities. Yet Republicans decided to bring their entire congressional committee to New York to highlight "so much crime." It's a stunt to please the felon Donald Trump and excite the FOX audience and everyone will forget about it by next week.
1
So basically you're saying most people shouldn't have to pay taxes. What a nice dream that must be.
1
It's only 3 percent. Down from 9 percent 2 years ago. Target is 2 percent per year.
1
@robertdefrank2550 Target is 2% for stable growth. They could easily bring it down to 0% or even negative, but it would crash the economy. Perhaps it could have stayed at 1.3% if Trump didn't sent free money to everyone and mishandled Covid. The US has the lowest rate of inflation in the developed world, yet Trump supporters are always talking down about America. Why do you even continue to live here if you dislike it so much when we are ahead of the rest of the world post-pandemic? I'd love to know.
1
@robertdefrank2550 Could have stayed that way if Trump hadn't sent so much free money to everyone and mishandled Covid.
1
What exactly did she say that was untrue?
1
@EmetVoce What does that even mean "following the constitution"? The vast, VAST majority of stuff that goes high up in the court system isn't even mentioned in the Constitution. So when you say "follow the Constitution," it really has no meaning other than how you decide to interpret it. Before you say I'm wrong, go actually look up a copy of the Constitution. You'll see that most of the stuff you care about isn't even mentioned. So it has to be interpreted by judges who all have a different opinion. School segregation was legal.... until it wasn't. Because different judges had a different opinion about what was "constitutional" based on a document that doesn't even mention it. If it was so easy to just "follow the Constitution," judges' decisions wouldn't be called OPINIONS.
1
@EmetVoce But ALL judges write OPINIONS. Because their job is to INTERPRET the Constitution. Reason being that most of the stuff we fight over is not directly addressed in the Constitution. So judges have to use their knowledge of history to "figure out" what the Founders "probabaly" would have wanted. Which, again, is why their rulings are called OPINIONS. Whenever I hear someone say "Just follow the Constitution!!", it lets me know they have no idea what they're talking about and probabaly failed government class.
1
@EmetVoce So the logical conclusion to your argument would be that regular citizens should be able to own tanks, rocket launchers, nukes, bombers, flamethrowers, and chemical weapons. After all, those are "arms". And the right to bear arms "shall not be infringed." Right?
1
@EmetVoce Extreme? I'm sorry but at what point did it become extreme? There are no extremes. The right to bear arms SHALL NOT be infringed. That's what the founders intended. I should very much be able to buy and distribute chemical and biological weapons.
1
@Taime88 The OSHA act says that the government SHALL pass regulations to ensure workplace safety. Clearly Biden's mandate passes that test. But Alito is concerned that you can't deactivate your vaccination status when you leave the workplace. Interesting argument. I guess there won't be any mandates until they come up with vaccine that only protects you while you're at the workplace.
1
@Taime88 No you cannot opt out of testing for Covid. Its not a medical procedure. That's the whole point of it being an alternative to vaccination. At this point you're just being difficult out of spite.

4th Amendment explicitly prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures. Means you have to actually have evidence before you search someone's home. You can't do it based on a hunch.
1
@jackbrown8052 Maybe. But requiring that would probably not stand up in court either. The requirements for running to be a member of Congress are also laid out in the Constitution. Only requirements are age and residency. For example, California recently passed a law requiring all presidential candidates to release their tax returns to be on the ballot and it was struck down in court. Requiring home searches would probably get struck down too.
1
@jackbrown8052 Well it is still a crime to knowingly take them and not give them back. Luckily Biden and Pence turned them over without even having to be asked. Chances are they will be fine. Trump on the other hand..... that obstruction. Turns out he was the most dishonest of all. How can we ever trust him?
1
Because their jobs are not low paying. And many are business owners and were already rich before they ran. Plus after they get elected they make money selling books. And when they leave office they give paid speeches and sit on the boards of companies. Organizations will pay a lot of money for that stuff. Former Speaker Paul Ryan sits on the board of Fox News. Pretty sure it pays a lot.
1
@AT-kt4wy You can find links to the court filings by googling them or by clicking on a link to them in one of the many articles written about this lawsuit. Usually the filings are pretty long, so be prepared to use some CTRL + F to find what you're looking for.
1
No. The people calling Bragg a "Soros-backed" prosecutor are shameful.
1
@harrisonskelton6934 Actually is about a 15% increase, not 18%. But it happened worldwide due to the recovery from Covid., which Trump totally mishandled.
1
4th Amendment prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures. You need to have evidence of a crime before you can search someone's home.
1
Your technicalities are not important. Language is whatever most people understand it to mean, not what you read in a book.
1
What do you mean by establishment politicians? Doesn't that just mean anyone who has been there for more than a few years?
1
@nicholasrouleau8280 They keep getting reelected because of name recognition and money. People already in office almost always have a built in advantage. It's one of the reasons Biden is running again instead of hoping another Democrat can win.
1
@nicholasrouleau8280 No one forced Republicans in Kentucky to keep reflecting Mitch McConnell.
1
But what would be their reasoning behind an impeachment inquiry? There still has been no evidence found of wrongdoing by Biden. You don't begin an impeachment inquiry with the "hope" of discovering wrongdoing. Unless this whole thing is just about revenge for Trump.
1
@debwell7248 For one, "strong" approval is not the same as overall approval. And second, Rasmussen is the most Republican-biased poll in the country. Their numbers are consistently off the mark from every other poll, including Fox News. So not only are you numbers likely wrong by a several points, but those "strong" approval numbers are irrelevant to the question of Biden's overall approval. In the future, please try to rely on more than just one polster.
1
@Dangalls3 Maybe it's because Trump had 74 million enthusiastic supporters. And Biden had 81 million people who strongly hated Trump. I'm pretty sure that would explain rally numbers. Really, it's not rocket science. Trump was always a historically unpopular president who had to rely on the Electroal College to push him over the edge.
1
@Dangalls3 We did NOT establish that Trump could not get more votes than Obama by being unpopular. Your definition of popularity is the number of votes someone got. My definition of a politician's popularity (and the definition of every professional) is the percentage of people who liked Trump. Yes, a lot of people liked Trump. But vastly more people hated him. Of course that's probabaly all just "fake news" to you. You're choosing to ignore statistics you don't like. Unfortunately, math doesn't care about your feelings.
1
@Dangalls3 All Trump had to do was take Covid seriously and he would have won. Less people would have died.
1
@debwell7248 Why do you equate crowd size with political support. Biden is not an entertainer. Trump is an entertainer at heart. And he appeals to a particular crowd. That does not mean most people want him to run the country. Why is that so hard for you to comprehend. Kevin Hart draws bigger crowds than Biden too. Do you think Kevin Hart should be president? If I want entertainment, I'll watch a movie. And you really have some nerve talking about someone's cognitive abilities after the last guy who had every personality disorder in the book.
1
@Dangalls3 Yea sure. Covid was just a plot to get rid of Trump. And yet here we are in 2021 holding the Tokyo Olympics a year late with no spectators and constant delays because of "the flu".
1
@Dangalls3 I think you read the news wrong. The CDC’s PCR test in question looks only for SARS-CoV-2, not influenza. They discontinued it because they want to release a test that is faster and can test for both. That is quite different from saying their test mistakenly diagnoses influenza cases as COVID-19, as you're suggesting. The viruses are not genetically similar, so that would be impossible. Please get off of social media. You are clearly prone to disinformation. As for your other question, I would assume it's because Covid is quite a bit more contagious, which has been known since Day 1.
1
@debwell7248 Trump is a successful ENTERTAINER who is LAZY and only ran for President because he likes ATTENTION. It's one of the reasons you voted for him. An outsider. And his fans are diehards. Joe Biden has NO diehard fans, but tons of name recognition. And I and a whole lot of other people were quite ready to get rid of that incompetent, scandalous idiot who was sitting in the White House. 2019 polling showed Biden as the only Democrat who could beat Trump, even with the good economy. Trump saw those same polls, which is why he was willing to get himself impeached over Ukraine just to stop Biden. A whole year before the election. It seems Trump didn't think those polls were "fake news". So he got himself impeached and still lost. Polls turned out to be correct! Lucky for Trump fans, he taught his supporters to invent a fake reality by just calling anything they don't like fake news. So now they live in an alternate universe where half of them think he will be "reinstated" after some "audit". Snowflakes.

@debwell7248 I couldn't write a fiction novel that good. Reality is stranger than fiction. First we had the nation's first black president. Charismatic and well-liked, but Republicans didn't want to believe was even American. They made up endless conspiracy theories about him. Then Republicans spent an entire decade trying to strip away people's health insurance just because it was affiliated with this guy. Then we had the world's stupidest president, who got his strongest support from Russia (former Soviet Union) and from white supremacists. Two impeachments: one for trying to cheat in the election and one for leading a coup against his own government after he lost. And now we have the nation's oldest president. He promotes science after the last guy pushed endless disinformation in the fight against a worldwide pandemic. He also happens to have the strongest stock market performance in more than 50 years... and he doesn't even brag about it.
1
@debwell7248 What? I don't want communism. I don't know what they're telling you on conservative media. I have no interest in communism. It's true I don't mind paying higher taxes for universal healthcare, but let's not blow things out of proportion. I actually do believe in capitalism as a whole. And I think Trump was a very stupid person with several diagnosible personality disorders (and you know it too). And Biden does have a better stock market.
1
@janemariehoward Joe Biden got rich by selling books and giving paid speeches, just like many other high ranking officials. But such a simple, common sense answer like that is unacceptable simple for people who need him to be a criminal.
1
@larrybruce4856 Trump mostly only hired white men and I still remember to this day how so many many of them were fired, investigated, or resigned because of incompetence or corruption. Not seeing any of that coming out of Biden's so-called DEI administration. Looks like he picked the most qualified and they just happened to be diverse. No firings, investigations, or resignations for incompetence or corruption, versus dozens when Trump was in office.
1
@1940limited The left is constantly talking about policy. It's just Republicans choose to call all of it socialism. Student debt relief and better healthcare are policies. Fighting to combat climate change and protect LGBTQ rights and thr right to choose are policy goals.
1
Actually it's meant to make MTG look bad seeing as she's the one who lied.
1
@joeschneider3894 I'm sure the mother also thinks it's funny that MTG used the deaths of her sons to start launching political attacks against the wrong person.
1
@alexandria6063 MAGAs really have become extreme. What society bans books about different ethnicities.
1
The crime angle? Republicans never miss a chance to call Bragg a "Soros-backed" prosecutor. But you don't want anyone to call you out on it. Just like how Republicans get mad at being called out for deliberate racism. As if we're just supposed let it slide because you say so.
1
What do Republicans think they are going to see in the video? There is nothing those videos could show that could possibly override the violence committed by Trump supporters on that day.
1
@zenzombie72 But we saw the insurrection. We saw the violence. There are hundreds of guilty pleas. Convictions for seditious conspiracy. Showing some peaceful people or some dirty cops helping them is not going to make it less of an insurrection. Trump supporters got duped.
1
@swagmaster622 Um no. I have eyes. It's on video. Trump supporters are violent.
1
@swagmaster622 I just did. I just watched a Trump supporter outside the Capitol hitting a police officer with a flagpole after spraying bear spray in his face I imagine he's in prison now.
1
@swagmaster622 Convicted by a jury. They had a chance to plead their case. Unfortunately for them, video evidence is quite convincing to a jury.
1
@swagmaster622 Yup everyone else is corrupt. Now I see why they tried to topple the government. It actually makes sense now. So why do you deny the insurrection when you would clearly support it? 🤔
1
@swagmaster622 Okay. So you supported the Jan 6 attack. So stop acting like it wasn't actually Trump supporters. They deserve to be in prison. And so does Trump for sending them there.
1
@swagmaster622 Now you are exaggerating. The ones who only trespassed only got misdemeanors with very short sentences or no jail time at all. The harsh sentences only went to the violent ones, the ones who encouraged rioting or theft, and the ones who broke into the Senate chamber. If we were in Russia or China, all of them would be in prison for life. Be happy you're in America, where you can attack the government based on a conspiracy theory about election fraud and get off with just a 30 day jail sentence or probation.
