@Linkedblade But it saves lives. They tried the carrot for 6 months and no one else was getting vaccines. Then deaths started going up again once Delta came along. We were going backwards. Hence they had to switch to using the stick. Evidence shows that mandates work quite well. And they are quite legal since it's for workplace safety. People can get the vax without sacrificing their pride....and they can blame it on the government just like everything else. But they will also be quite likely to stay out of the hospital (even though they all think they are the lucky ones who won't get that sick). Leadership is not always popular.

@MattG-wp8ub Stop what? It's true. Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean it ain't true.

I think Obamacare is supposed to be an IMPROVEMENT on how things used to be. Keep in mind, most people are not on actual Obamacare plans. Its only for people who: 1. don't get insurance from work but 2. still make too much money to qualify for Medicaid And you do get help from subsidies up to an income of like $75,000 (so theoretically it's only people with incomes over that level who are suffering). Still, I admit it's not it's the best situation to be in (for the maybe 2% of people in that situation). Which is why Democrats would like to have a government-run public option to hopefully compete with private insurance and drive down the price. It is my understanding that before Obamacare, things were actually WORSE for people in your situation (as far as access to coverage, price, and covered procedures).

@sahmom6285 Obamacare only sucks for people who: 1. Don't get insurance through their jobs (most people do) 2. Make too much money to qualify for Medicaid AND 3. Make too much money to qualify for government subsidies (so over $75,000) AND 4. Are not old enough to qualify for Medicare. Only about 1 or 2 percent of Americans fall into all 4 categories (about 2 million people). But if you happen to fall into that 1 or 2 percent, I admit it's not the best place to be. And as Democrats have said, that is why they want to EXPAND SUBSIDIES and pass a GOVERNMENT OPTION to compete and drive down costs. The government option was in the original Obamacare plan but it didn't have the votes. The alternative is killing Obamacare with all the pain that entails for literally over 100 million Americans with preexisting conditions. FIX Obamacare, don't kill it. Tell Republicans to stop trying to kill it just because it was passed by Democrats. FIX IT. It's not unfixable.

@dmatt339 It only takes a majority to vote yes to indict. To convict, it takes all of them to vote yes. One Trump supporter getting on that jury could derail everything.
20
+T Hop Only, the experts and historians seem to all think differently. They rank him in the top 15 of 44 presidents. I'm guessing you also think the economy is much worse than when he came into office. It grew to historic highs. Just because you value certain things doesn't mean other people value the same things. In case you don't remember, he was quite popular leaving office. And by the way, even if he was a Muslim what's wrong with Muslims. Do you hate Jews too. How about Christians. Judging people based on their religion has been the basis of many, many wars. Do you really want to go down that path? Is there any difference between you and a seething racist?? Maybe you do...
17
Bannon got indicted for being held in contempt. Faces up to two years in prison. Funny how Republicans are now the party that roots for breaking any law as long as it in defense of Trump. Cult. They have nothing to stand for but kneeling at Trump's feet.
16
@feffygracie Are you talking about the guy who incited a coup over a lie?
14
+T Hop The Constitution doesn't say you have to have managed a business. Just like it doesn't say you have to have worked in government (AKA Trump). Those are things you value. Other people value someone who cares about them...and helps pull them out of a recession, helps get them health care (even if it's not perfect), invests billions in technology, lives in a world of logic and facts and rationality, while facing historic pushback from the other party that no other president has EVER had to face (except for maybe Lincoln). While Republicans will certainly try to erase his presidency from the books, he certainly accomplished a lot.
13
@sahmom6285 So yes, some middle-class people who actually have Obamacare are suffering. Let Democrats expand subsidies to cover people with higher incomes. Problem solved. Or I suppose you could root for Republicans just kill it and cause a self-inflicted national crisis. Personally, I would prefer to just expand subsidies to cover more people. Honestly seems like common sense, but Republicans don't wanna do it. Because they have spent the last 10 years telling their constituents that Obamacare has got to go.
12
Where's Trump's birth certificate? We haven't seen his at all
10
@feffygracie They "felt" disenfranchised. But they weren't disenfranchised. It was a lie. They are in jail because he bamboozled them. Told them what they wanted to hear.
10
@John B No one is threatening you. It is a workplace safety regulation to keep US employees safe. You are the one who chose to believe conspiracy theorists and articles online telling you the vaccine was dangerous.
9
Asking your boss why he is okay with hate speech and denigrating immigrants is rude?
8
Why have you not listened to or looked up her policies if you're interested. This sounds like fake concern.
8
@Oi Do Not Consent Why is "racebaiting" racist? The guy said he can't understand why being a white supremacist is offensive. Now it's racist to call out racism? No, you just don't want to believe that you might have views that in America would be considered racist (even by white people standards).
7
@feffygracie BLM wasn't about disenfranchisement. They were a protest movement against police shootings of unarmed black men. And Antifa stands for Anti-fascist. Nothing to do with feeling dienfranchised.
7
@jessejive117 The Republican way: make healthcare decisions based on pride and politics. I love how you just admitted that your brother threw logic out the window just because he wants to be a rebel against the Biden administration. Lolol I'll remind you that you had 6 months to get Trump's vaccine before Biden announced any mandates. And by the time the rule goes into effect, you will have had almost a year to get Mr. Trump's vaccine without being forced.
7
@CChissel Almost all full-time employees in the U.S. have employer-provided insurance. Part of Obamacare states that businesses with more than 50 employees must offer insurance to all full-time employees (anyone who works over 30 hours per week). But this was true even before Obamacare, because most employees want health benefits from ther jobs. I dont believe that applies to contractors. That's why half the time I dont believe people online when they talk about how expensive Obamacare is. Because the vast majority of people do not have an Obamacare plan. And 80 percent of those who do have one actually qualify for subsidies to make it affordable.
6
@mzc102908 There wouldn't need to be a mandate if people stopped reading conspiracy theories from obscure websites online. You are not smart because you found some article from some fringe website that misinterprets data and tells you that all the world's scientists are trying to trick you. And like I said before, you had 6 months to get the vaccine before mandates were announced. And it will be almost a year by the time they go into effect next month. There should be no need to use force, but our hospitals are constantly overwhelmed by the vaccine-hesitant people. It has to stop.
6
@jessejive117 You went to school for this but you can't understand the simple concept of a mask stopping droplets from leaving your mouth when you talk. Don't wear a cloth mask. Wear a surgical mask (they even come in black now). If you feel you need extra security, maybe you should purchase some N-95 masks. They only cost a few dollars each.
6
He's been happily preventing things from getting done. Republicans benefit much more from the filibuster than Democrats. By definition, conservatives don't want things to change. So they hold up progress. Of course if we do get rid of the filibuster and they find a way to win back power, they could pass a bunch of unpopular laws that Democrats don't like.
6
J Gannon Conservatives are having some really bad luck proving their conspiracy theories. You said they would find something on Hillary. Nope, she’s still free. You said the Horowitz IG report would “destroy” democrats. Nope. No bias discovered. You said McCabe was going to prison. Nope. Investigation ended. Comey...still free. Now you’re looking at Durham. Don’t get your hopes up. Instead, the only ones actually found to have committed wrongdoing are friends of Trump. 6 convicted and counting.
5
@gforce7431 You think Fauci is a more politician than scientist because you choose to ignore (or maybe just don't see) the 99% of the time he is talking science. Then Fox News focuses on the 1% of the time he gets into a fight with Republicans in Congress for pushing conspiracy theories. Clearly the news you watch is biased, or else you would know that Fauci spends 99% of his time on science.
5
In the report, Mueller documented evidence of eleven (11) instances of obstruction of justice and said he could not charge Trump because he is the sitting president. Also, your facts are wrong. Multiple Trump associates are in prison right now for various crimes. Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen, Rick Gates. Michael Flynn was in the administration and is going to prison. The CFO of the Trump Organization got immunity to testify. Trump surrounds himself with criminals. And he is obstructing justice yet again by refusing to cooperate with Congress.

@YuckFou0x0FFFF Those are not yet monopolites to the same extent as Apple. There are quite a few banks and insurance companies ou there. In the smartphone market, there is really only Apple and and Android. But Android works on any non-Apple phone.
4
@DuffyF56 No such thing as an unconstitutional impeachment. If the House of Representatives votes to impeach a president, they are impeached. Simple as that. I'm sure you've read the Second Amendment to the Constitution, but you seem to be unaware of the whole rest of the document. You should check it out some time. The part about impeachments is only one paragraph, so it shouldn't take you too long.
4
This is a general we’re talking about. Not some “staffer.” Trump specifically asked for him.
4
@seangibson7546 I have no interest in looking for disparaging information about Fauci as a scapegoat to disprove science. All the world's scientists have literally the exact same advice as Fauci. So whether or not you trust him in particular make no difference on what is the right course of action. Stop looking for scapegoats.
4
@patriotanti-commie3443 Fauci does not hold the patent. Mr. Trump does. And Pfizer and Moderna. But mainly Trump because of Operation Warp Speed. Trump is responsible for the vaccines. I'm fact, he has taken credit for it many times.
4
Jon Morrison 500,000 people died of Covid and Trump acted like it was a hoax. Then he secretly got the vaccine himself in January but refused to tell his paranoid, conspiratorial, anti-science supporters that it was safe (it's shocking the kind of sociopath it takes to do something like that). Especially considering he almost died from getting infected last year and had to get a whole bunch of experimental medications to stay alive.
4
@leonardplanckiii998 Hint: a republic is still a democracy -- it just means we vote for representatives in Congress. Most democracies are republics unless the country only has a few hundred people. "Republic" doesn't mean the minority gets to rule.
4
@mothcake8928 What's weird is that Congress has to pass a separate law to allow them to pay for expenses they already authorized. This whole debt ceiling things is a stupid waste of time since it serves basically no purpose but to put us in crisis mode every few years. The debt limit should go up AUTOMATICALLY any time Congress authorizes more spending than they take in from revenues. You don't ask permission to pay your credit card bill. You just pay it.
4
Kay Wiley Exactly. Republicans hate spending money to help people.....unless it helps them
4
Yes. As a black guy I noticed that immediately. Everyone on TV is so scared to call out reality since apparently it's unacceptable to call a racist a racist.
3
@Thinkforyourself6969 Sounds like you ate one of the many Republicans who secretly would be fine with sunsetting Social Security. Yet they tried to act like they would never do such a thing when confronted with it on live TV.
3
@Teemoney901 That's why Democrats want to increase the subsidies
3
@rekhyt656 As a person who doesn't like Trump, I would agree with your statement. Most people have never, and never will, want Trump in the White House. His support has never cracked 50 percent.
3
@DuffyF56 Sounds like a personal problem that you feel it was illegitimate. The vote was taken, and Trump was impeached for his corruption and abuse of power. Twice.
3
@DuffyF56 Trump: "I have an Article II (of the Constitution) where I have the right to do whatever I want." The guy was just asking to be impeached. And Democrats obliged. Ask and you shall receive.
3
@DuffyF56 Sorry you can't handle that he lost
3
You are the one jumping to conclusions. "They know more than they are telling us!" You have no idea what they do and do not know, so it's pointless to speculate or overcomplicate things. Your brain energy would be better used elsewhere.
3
Apparently not. People always seem to forget that she got more votes. The reason you're mad at her is because Trump still found a way to beat her (thanks James Comey). Seems like you're taking out your anger on the wrong person. I don't remember people mocking John Kerry for losing.
3
BonzoDog67 Lizardking I have to say, Trump has given ENORMOUSLY more to corporations than Hillary Clinton would have done. He is a far-right Republican who talks like a populist. Remember those tax cuts and rolled back regulations? Do you honestly think Hillary Clinton would have done half as much for big corporations? Do you honestly think Trump has any core beliefs beyond what his base wants to hear...and his devout racism? In short, you're either a Republican and you were going to support Trump even if Bernie had won (even if you won't say it)...or you voted against your own interests just because you disliked Hillary Clinton as a person...which is Infinitely Stupid given the consequences.
3
What is so biased about asking if Trump cares about corruption. I don’t believe Rand Paul was ever able to answer that with a straight yes or a no
3
@leonardplanckiii998 Hint: Us being a "constitutional republic" doesn't have anything to do with the Electoral College. "Constitutional" means we have a constitution. "Republic" means we elect representatives to govern for us. Most countries in the world are "constitutional republics". Please stop making up definitions to justify minority rule.
3
Hahaha. It’s so funny you brought that up
3
The debt ceiling will never be lowered. It may seem strange, but many economists believe it is perfectly fine for a nation to spend more than they take in from taxes. Most nations do not have a balanced budget. But as long as economic growth and tax revenues keep pace with increases in the debt, it can actually good for our economy to use debt. As long as the money is used in ways that help the economy. If we were to actually try to lower the debt by dramatically cutting spending or raising taxes, it's pretty likely that would cause some decent damage to the economy.
3
@Johnny Mill Then by definition, doesn't that mean that Trump normalized lying 🤷🏾♂️
3
@PhilTallo Do you have evidence to the contrary? Or just theories?
