@Linkedblade But it saves lives. They tried the carrot for 6 months and no one else was getting vaccines. Then deaths started going up again once Delta came along. We were going backwards. Hence they had to switch to using the stick. Evidence shows that mandates work quite well. And they are quite legal since it's for workplace safety. People can get the vax without sacrificing their pride....and they can blame it on the government just like everything else. But they will also be quite likely to stay out of the hospital (even though they all think they are the lucky ones who won't get that sick). Leadership is not always popular.

@MattG-wp8ub Stop what? It's true. Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean it ain't true.
143
@John B No one is threatening you. It is a workplace safety regulation to keep US employees safe. You are the one who chose to believe conspiracy theorists and articles online telling you the vaccine was dangerous.

@jessejive117 The Republican way: make healthcare decisions based on pride and politics. I love how you just admitted that your brother threw logic out the window just because he wants to be a rebel against the Biden administration. Lolol I'll remind you that you had 6 months to get Trump's vaccine before Biden announced any mandates. And by the time the rule goes into effect, you will have had almost a year to get Mr. Trump's vaccine without being forced.

@mzc102908 There wouldn't need to be a mandate if people stopped reading conspiracy theories from obscure websites online. You are not smart because you found some article from some fringe website that misinterprets data and tells you that all the world's scientists are trying to trick you. And like I said before, you had 6 months to get the vaccine before mandates were announced. And it will be almost a year by the time they go into effect next month. There should be no need to use force, but our hospitals are constantly overwhelmed by the vaccine-hesitant people. It has to stop.

@jessejive117 You went to school for this but you can't understand the simple concept of a mask stopping droplets from leaving your mouth when you talk. Don't wear a cloth mask. Wear a surgical mask (they even come in black now). If you feel you need extra security, maybe you should purchase some N-95 masks. They only cost a few dollars each.

@gforce7431 You think Fauci is a more politician than scientist because you choose to ignore (or maybe just don't see) the 99% of the time he is talking science. Then Fox News focuses on the 1% of the time he gets into a fight with Republicans in Congress for pushing conspiracy theories. Clearly the news you watch is biased, or else you would know that Fauci spends 99% of his time on science.
5
@seangibson7546 I have no interest in looking for disparaging information about Fauci as a scapegoat to disprove science. All the world's scientists have literally the exact same advice as Fauci. So whether or not you trust him in particular make no difference on what is the right course of action. Stop looking for scapegoats.

@patriotanti-commie3443 Fauci does not hold the patent. Mr. Trump does. And Pfizer and Moderna. But mainly Trump because of Operation Warp Speed. Trump is responsible for the vaccines. I'm fact, he has taken credit for it many times.
4
@gforce7431 Dr. Fauci has the spotlight because Mr. Trump put him in charge of handling the pandemic, and Biden kept him in charge. He's been the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for 40 years. He's just about the most qualified person you could have leading the pandemic response. But I guess when you've been trained by your party officials and talking heads to distrust anyone with any credentials or practical experience to their name, you will not like Fauci. Youd rather get your health information from some fringe website or from Mr. Carlson.

@AM1media There is a scientific way to prove it. The control group is people who didn't have the vaccine. They make up the vast majority of people ending up on life support. People who did take for the most part are fine (they might catch it, but it's very, very, very rare for them to die).
2
@LegoGuy87 How can you possibly say that mandates will increase hesitancy? If people would just get it on their own, we wouldn't have a need for mandates in the first place. The mandates are doing their job. 90%+ of the population will get the jab rather than lose their job. It's just a fact.
2
@stevengull6703 England didn't "create" the anti-vaccine movement. That came from conspiracy theorists on the internet and from yoga moms and certain celbrities. But this time, it has more to do with politics than general skepticism. There is a very clear line between political affiliation and likelihood of being vaccinated. Republicans politicized the vaccine, spreading conspiracy theories about it even though it was developed by their own president.

@eukaryotic366 You misquoted Mrs. Harris. She did not say she wouldn't get a vaccine under Trump. She said she wouldn't Trump's word that it was safe. She said she would, however, take it if Dr Fauci said it was safe. Basically, she prefers to take advice from people who are paid to know what they're talking about. Please try to stop misquoting people. I'm sure you didn't do it on purpose, but that is a form of disinformation.
1
@andrewlange4521 The government isn't protecting people from themselves. It is trying to stop a contageous virus. Key word: contagious.
1
@eukaryotic366 There are two kinds of general disinfectant used by most households. Lysol and bleach. So if you say they misquoted Trump's super dumb question, then I suppose you mean to say that Trump was asking if we could inject Lysol. A bit of advice, disinfectant is TOXIC. It doesn't go in your body. You will die. Here we are almost two years later and you're still defending Trump's dumbness. But you knew he was missing a few screws when you voted for him.
1
@eukaryotic366 No I did not have to look that up. Trump is dumb. Everyone knows you can't inject disinfectant. You will die. The only things that go in your body are antibiotics and antivirals. Not cleaning chemicals. Dumb people defending dumb people calling other people dumb.
1
@patriotanti-commie3443 OH really, the patent is from 2015? Well then I guess it wasn't really rushed. Operation Wrp Speed did not help. And you should have no reason to hesitant about taking the vaccine since it was not rushed.
1
@johnpatrick1647 It is new technology, but it is no longer experimental. Listen to Mr. Trump. Get the vaccine and a booster. Stop listening to conspiracy theorists. You are not smarter than the guys with the PhDs, I don't care how many pundits you listen to or how many fringe articles your read.
1
Robert Arnold The mandate does have exceptions for health reasons. I think you might want to check that out before you go making any reckless decisions like quiting your job.
1
@seangibson7546 I have indeed heard of the side effects of the vaccines. Mrna vaccines have been in development for a couple decades and are a huge leap in technology since we can now create a vaccine for nearly any infectious disease (and even cancer) in just a few months by extracting the genetic code of the pathogen. And you know as well as I do that the tiny risk of long term illness from the vaccines is statistically insignificant (again, this vaccine technology has been in development for several decades). Third, the death rate of covid is not the only problem with covid. It has thebpotential to do quite a number on your body. And you being out of work is bad for the economy. Finally, stop looking for fringe scientists. They are not peer reviewed and therefore have no scientific authority. There is a standard method to science and we will adhere to it.
1
@seangibson7546 Okay, so you're suggesting that someone is buying off 97 percent of the world's scientists. Highly improbable. I think it would be reckless to take your advice. Sounds quite conspiratorial. I'm not big on the conspiracy nonsense. Just doesn't appeal to me. I keep it simple, listen to people who went to school and are paid to know what the hell they're talking about. Not the pundits or the "experts" in the comments section.
1
@chris135x Knowing what's best for everyone including people you don't know is called public health. For example, we know that tobacco is bad for EVERYONE. We know that seatbelts are good for EVERYONE. We know that alcohol is bad for ALL pregnant women. We know that obesity is bad for EVERYONE, especially the older you get. You do not need to know someone personally to see patterns and trends. But for some reason when it comes to getting a shot, suddenly you believe that public health either does not apply or is all some big conspiracy.
1
@johnpatrick1647 You should be listening to the doctors that specialize in infectious diseases. Doctors have specialties. You listen to people hmwho are paid to know what they're talking about in a particular field. For example, you don't go to a foot doctor to get information about kidney disease.
1
@michaeljohnston1448 Yes, they can quickly tell which variant you're infected with. But they have to send it to a lab.
1
@ImperialFistStan Well for one, abortion isn't contageous. Therefore, it truly is "personal." Covid, on the other hand, is a matter of public health. On average, every person who catches it will spread it to 3 other people AND they will have to take off from work to quarantine for nearly 2 weeks. Not to mention overloading the hospital system, as we still have states like Utah with 95% of their ICU beds full of Covid patients. Abortion.... you maybe take one or two days off from work and that's it. Apples and oranges.
1
@dislikeguy9892 They did NOT say they wouldn't take the vaccine under Trump. They said they would not trust Trump's word that it was safe. They said they would take it if Dr. Fauci (the one with 40 years experience in public health) said it was safe. Please stop spreading misinformation and conspiracies. Between 2020 and 2021, I've heard enough right-wing misinformation for a lifetime. Please stop misquoting people to fit your agenda. The actual video is freely available online.
1
@dislikeguy9892 Aha! So now you're playing the fool. You got a quote of Kamala or Biden disparaging Trump rushing the vaccine and you think it justifies the year-long campaign of the entire GOP against vaccination (against the advice of medical health experts). The entire GOP has spent all of 2021 sowing fear about vaccines, but now suddenly it's all Kamala's fault because of something she said over a year ago during the campaign. You've got to be kidding me. That is so weak. That is so utterly ridiculous. So since you're trying to explain away you hesitancy and blame it on Kamala, I guess that means you've come around to trusting the vaccines and you just need to protect your pride by pointing your finger at a (misquoted) comment she made over a year ago during the campaign. Well that's okay, as long as you believe in science now, finally. Better late then never. Good luck out there
