  2. My dad served 30 years in the navy and retired in 1973. My wife & I had been on so many cruises. I tried my best for 30+ years to get him & my mom to join us on a cruise with Royal Caribbean. After 30 years in the navy he was not about to ever step foot on another ship! Finally I told my dad, hey they are not going to make you work on this ship... Sadly I was never able to talk him into it. Shalom

  4. When I was first stationed near Jax, FL there was a great steakhouse called the Tree Steakhouse in the Arlington area that had been there for 50 years. It was the best steakhouse around. They had fantastic dry aged steaks like in this video. It was a small restaurant. They would bring out the roll of Rye-eye steaks on a card, you would tell the server how thick that you wanted your steak and how seasoned-cooked. The Arlington area of the city started to go down hill in the late 80's and they moved. Only it was not as good and they did not last. I have much respect for people working in the food business. It is hard long work. Shalom

  5. I love that a friend gave me 3 banana trees 6 years ago. After we planted the trees it was the 2nd year before I had bananas. From 3 banana trees I now have around 45-50 trees. Banana is my favorite fruit. It is great to walk in the back yard, pick a bunch of bananas, let them ripe a couple days and enjoy. My big hound dog used to love sleeping under the trees that are near our lake. The farming process of the banana's to the USA is amazing and works. Shalom

  15. The food was very good on ship or ashore, but I don't miss being up much of the night with midrats. It was good as well I just don't miss the duty watch and working all the next day~! Shalom

  16. I have been on a lot of Royal Caribbean cruises & my wife with her friends on a hell of a lot more cruises. These men & women have it down to a fine science. So do many of the other top of the line cruise ship lines. They have my complete respect for doing a very hard job and doing it excellent. PJ

  23. It is necessary. It shocks the recruits since the DI's can't physically manhandled or touch the recruits. The recruits are coming from a "normal" lifestyle if there is such a thing anymore. These men & women are not being trained for a nice peaceful job. They are being trained to defend our country. You, me & everyone else. The DI's have just 10 weeks to turn a recruit into someone that has some understanding of military discipline. It is harsh, but so is the world they may face in combat. PJ

  27. Would you trade places with any of these people and live in the country they are from? Hell no. Plus they receive free onboard medical, housing & uniforms. It is not perfect, but it is a hell of a lot better than where they came from. Most of these employees do this job because - "They" can send money back home to help support their family. Shalom

  38. No in a concentration camp they would be put into a gas chamber & then told they were going into a shower. Once they were gassed to death, women, children & older people, they would then strip the bodies of everything. Clothing & even gold fillings if you had any. Then they would take the naked dead bodies from the gas chamber & put them into an oven. The only thing left after the oven cooking would be a bit of ash & bones.
