  1. India is responding to the market forces. They developed an economic alliance with Russia because they didn't know Russians would be so crazy as to invade Ukraine. What the US needs to do at this point is work towards a world in which democratic and individual values are protected. Regimes and autocracies hate our values because they go against the idea of having these little dinasties (Putin, Chinese Communist Party, etc). The US is in a position of leadership but current or prior policies were fundamentally anti-communist to paranoid levels. India is neither an ally nor an enemy, they're just worried about their own interests.
