  1. My only issue is that this isn't something new. The oil industry has kept the world from developing renewable energy markets, the auto industry kept the world from accessing the idea of electric vehicles up until recently, telecommunication companies made it very hard for the average person to use the electromagnetic spectrum. In a market oriented economy society will always give power to technologies through market forces. Where western society needs to focus is on learning the role of elected officials and how they align with our values. That is a timeless concept that needs to stand above any technological development or stakeholders.

  2.  @Mr_Fairdale  Some oil companies have funded organizations and campaigns that spread doubt about climate change or downplay its severity. This has created confusion and slowed down the adoption of renewable energy solutions.
