@beaujac311 OK. So all the hundreds of thousands of deaths on the Union side were, just to keep together a political entity. Nothing to do with slavery. Glad we got that one sorted. Each Southern state, had every to right to secede from United States, should they have wished, and that's the course of action they took. Instead, a war started, with the aim of the North being to force them back into the United States, and force them to relinquish slavery and their right to self-determination.
Anyway, American history, is not my history. So why should I even care about it?
How can you separate any slavery. What's so special about what happened in America? In fact, the rest of the World is tired of your BS, such as BLM, and looting in inner cities, which is spreading to other countries.
Candace Owens should be free to say anything she wants, especially when it's based on facts, and compensated for her time. Or maybe, you want to live in a echo chamber, where you never hear a contrary argument?

@olliemck60 There's a saying., dude. If you're stuck in a hole, then maybe stop digging. You got it wrong, so why don't you just admit it, and move on. The American Civil War had been a possibility, since the country had be founded. It was about each state's right to have control over its affairs. That's why they were called "states", and not "counties", or some other such term. In fact the original thirteen states were sovereign countries, which united together. Much the same as the UK is.
You seem woefully ignorant of the history of your own country. However, it's taken for granted that most Muricans are. Big with the mouth, although nobody's home.

@andread5560 Slavery ended in England in the eleventh century. Slaves could not be kept there. What English people did outside England was different. It was outside the control of the English government.
The Portuguese were the biggest slave traders. They transported millions of slaves to South America. You can see this by all the black people in Brazil.
Europeans, especially Britain, brought civilisation to Africa. They also brought medicine, good government, a legal system, and schools Also, trade and technology, such as roads, railways, ports and telegraph.
When the Europeans left Africa, it was a much better place to live, than before they came.
It's just sad, that the Africans were not able carry on improving their countries. There are no successful black African countries, where there are no white people. Even countries like Zimbabwe and South Africa are failed states, due to corruption and bad government, by the black people in power now.
There's only so much Western countries to help the Third World. If countries in Africa and Asian, can't help themselves. Then what more can the developed countries do?

@Loch1210 What trauma? You never suffered like all past generations did. You weren't even born. You're lucky enough to have been born in a country and at a time, when you have greatest opportunity to achieve any goal you set your mind to. How's a hand out going to change the way you think? How much money have you and your family been given in the form of any type of welfare already?
Also, why are you pestering only the current US government? Africans were first taken by other Africans, and then sold to foreigners. Why aren't you also asking for a handout from the ancestors, who started the process in Africa. Your fellow Africans cared less for your ancestors, than the traders they sold you to. The reason is that you won't get anything from there because these people, firstly, don't care, and secondly, they haven't got any money.
So why don't you stop looking back, and start looking forward. You can do this by contributing to your country, rather than being a drain on it.
