  2. Are you serious? Removing half the skin of the penis, ablating the frenulum, severing nerves and blood vessels, and leaving a ring of scar tissue. All on someone who has no say in the matter. How is that not barbaric?

  3. There was a fad in the upper and middle classes from the Victorian era on, to cut their male children. The Victorians were alarmed that males at some stage might have the urge to pleasure themselves. John Kellogg, the inventor of the cornflake amongst other things, was a proponent of MGM, for men who were chronically addicted to masturbation., ie., nearly the whole male population. There was a fictional film made about his life starring Anthony Hopkins, called "The Road to Wellville".

However, in these more enlightened times and the fact that insurance ain't paying for it, means that the cycle is being thankfully broken.

Some developed brain damage, and others have died. There is no proven way to eliminate the risk of HSV-1 infection from direct oral suctioning, though there are options to reduce the risk. Many adults carry HSV-1 in their bodies. They may have no symptoms or only mild symptoms, such as cold sores. Unlike adults, babies are too young to fight the virus. When a baby gets the virus, they could have brain damage, develop a lifelong disability or, in some cases, die. A baby can get the virus when the mohel's saliva gets on the baby's skin and circumcision wound. If a mohel does metzitzah b’peh, even for just a moment, there is no way to avoid this risk. Even if the mohel has no symptoms or obvious signs of HSV-1, such as cold sores near their mouth, they could still have the virus and not know it. As a baby’s immune system is not mature enough to fight infection, HSV-1 is a serious risk for babies. If infected, babies will need to be hospitalized for at least two weeks of intravenous medicine to fight the infection. Even with treatment, the infection could result in lifelong disability, and babies could even die from the infection.

When are you going to realize that some level of risk is always necessary in everything you do? It's the benefit, you have to prioritize. How about the infants who die, through complications from botched circumcisions? Look at the sad case of David Reimer, to see how it can wreck lives.

  26.  @davidlawes4954  Tugging has been around for a long time. It does after a lot of effort, at least allow the glans to be covered, and protected, as evolution designed it to be. Although, as you know, you are missing the delicate, sensitive epithelial skin, with all those nerve endings. The same as what is found inside our mouths. Also, if the equally sensitive frenulum has been ablated, that can never be restored. The sooner the barbaric process of MGM is outlawed, the better. It is against our basic human rights to bodily integrity. It has no place in an advanced, civilized society.
