🥀 Looking at the UK today. The Battle of Britain seems increasingly like a pyrrhic victory. Those brave men who sacrificed their lives, to stop the invasion of their island. Would surely turn in their graves, if they could have seen the flood gates, which were opened to mass immigration. Would they even recognise, the beautiful land, they took of from, and defended, during that summer of 1940?🛩

Just imagine a re-make? There'd be loads of parts played my "BAME" people, mostly the "B" persuasion. Maybe they'd even get some playing pilots too. Oh to laugh or cry!

@kirineloch9292 What is a country without a people, who embody the values of that nation? Britain was forged by its native population, and the influence of it's neighbours, who shared a similar culture for millennia. The Britons who fought in WWII, were descendants of those ancestors. They had a strong affinity to their island. Something which is being eroded by actions, which are all too apparent..

At the time of writing. The last surviving Battle of Britain veteran is 103-year-old Pilot Officer John Hemingway, who lives in Dublin.

@jamesdean1143 It's a tough one. Should A H have been resisted or accommodated? It's probably better, that the former was the path chosen. However, this is rather a moot point. It's what happened in the post war mindset, especially, the ruling class. Which is more relevant, to the crazy situation faced today in the West. As for D I, some don't like him and his theses. However, he's a very thorough historian. Who always writes using primary sources, where possible. Rather than just regurgitating what someone else wrote.

@kirineloch9292 You obviously don't understand or appreciate, the deep affinity and relationship, an indigenous people, have to their land. After many thousands of years, they are almost bound together as one entity. Since the end of the last Ice Age, about 10,000 years ago. Britain, was first populated by ancient Britons. Then there was settlement by Angles, Saxons, Danes, (Romans, who invaded and then left),Vikings and Normans. All those that stayed, were from Northern Europe, and had very similar cultures and religious beliefs. So any incomer, quickly assimilated into the local culture. Can the same be said, for migrants from Africa or Asia? Do they share the same history and values, as the native Britons?

@PUNKinDRUBLIC72 A "pyrrhic" victory, is essentially, an empty victory. The gain was not worth the cost. In this example, people giving their lives to prevent invasion. Only for later generations, to betray their ancestors, and allow an invasion with no resistance, whatsoever.

@kirineloch9292 No. Everybody tries to retain their respective cultures. All have some cultural baggage. Whether it be customs, religion, down to who they tend to marry. Just look at a country like the USA, where different groups have lived within the same borders for several centuries. Yet there is still self-imposed segregation, as to where people of different origins, choose to reside.

@kirineloch9292 Segregation in the Southern US ended seventy years ago. Long enough for communities to integrate if they wanted to. Why not stop blaming one particular demographic for all the ills in America. There is nothing stopping any person, achieving what they want. It's all down to personal accountability. Nobody is holding anyone back. However, if people constantly say they can't be successful, because of somebody else. They are doomed to failure.
