Was there anywhere in Western world that the jezus cult didn't penetrate? Britain was just a small part of the Vikings expansionist policies. They were by definition a sea-faring nation, like the British did later. They discovered North America, long before Columbus did. As well , they also voyaged as far as the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Middle East. On land, they even went as far as founding what is now modern day Russia. The close connection between the Rus' and the Norse is confirmed both by extensive Scandinavian settlement in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine and by Slavic influences in the Swedish language. Though the debate over the origin of the Rus' remains politically charged, there is broad agreement that if the proto-Rus' were indeed originally Norse origin.
