People actually think they will have time to grab and use a gun in a home invasion. Truth is having guns in the home greatly increases risk of accidental death.

True they don't want to hurt anyone. Problem is that once a gun is introduced into the home the odds of accidental death go up considerably. Accidental death and suicide are the number one cause of deaths by gun in the home. Very rare that someone uses a gun in self defense at home.

Take a look at statistics and you get an entire different opinion on gun ownership. Much safer with no gun in the home than with one since the chances of defending yourself with one is slim to none.

If we had honest discussions Americans would understand having a gun greatly increases your chance of accidental death. The odds that a person would actually be able to use a gun in a self defense situation is highly unlikely. First off you would have to get proper training and keep that gun strapped to your side 24/7. Who the hell want to live with that level of paranoia?

@NickRedstar That's fine. I'm just pointing out that millions of people who buy a gun thinking it will protect them are actually making their home less safe.

@johnb1491 Not in home defense. That is an extremely low number. You do realize they keep track of these things right? Just google it. Suicide and accidental gun deaths are faaaaaaarrr more likely than using a gun to defend against a home invader. Hell the Orlando Sentinel has a story every day about someone accidentally killed or shot by a loved one in a fit of anger. Just had another story today of a man who got mad at his wife and killed himself and his two kids.
