When Boeing merger with McDonnell Douglas they no longer manufactured planes in a single facility. now they use multiple contractors across different countries and often the parts don't line up or integrate with each other as planned. Many things went wrong due to the merger (stock by back etc.) , but that is the basic fault.

  3. Boing went to hell when they merged with McDonnell Douglas. It completely changed the way the planes are designed and manufactured and put them in the mess they are today.
