Welcome to being a public figure. No one forced him to become the darling of the right wing and make appearances on FOX or appear at CPAC he made that choice. Now he is a public figure and gets all that comes with it.

@abdullahx8118 You mean after he shot those people? Yes you usually go to court for such things and sometimes they get national attention. It's his public appearances afterword that has made him infamous. What most people would do is stay quiet and seek counseling after shooting someone. He decided to become a star.

@abdullahx8118 We are all getting off track here. It's a simple issue. He is a public figure and as such has no legal leg to stand on. Does not matter how we feel about him as a person. A public figure is a person, such as a politician, celebrity, social media personality, or business leader, who has a certain social position within a certain scope and a significant influence and so is often widely of concern to the public, can benefit enormously from society, and is closely related to public interests in society. In the context of defamation actions (libel and slander) as well as invasion of privacy, a public figure cannot succeed in a lawsuit on incorrect harmful statements in the United States unless there is proof that the writer or publisher acted with actual malice by knowing the falsity or by reckless disregard for the truth. The legal burden of proof in defamation actions is thus higher in the case of a public figure than in the case of an ordinary person

@nathansandberg3390 would never put myself in his position in the first place. That is the point.

@WAEVOICE Better be careful, If he somehow managed to win his case that would open FOX and NEWSMAX to suit every time they lie. Up till this point they have been protected by claiming to be entertainment and not news.

@robosoldier11 Put all your eggs in one basket.

@abdullahx8118 there is a provision you take them to court which is what he is doing. I'm not even sure what he claiming was misreported about him. What I suspect is that the money behind him that has started this "foundation" is using the publicity to make a s ton of money and he is expecting to cash in on it.
1
@nathansandberg3390 that's just a matter of semantics. Probably better to refer to him as a killer. I guess he should have left the job of cops to cops.
1
@nathansandberg3390 I suppose it could be possible he might win the case against Zuckerberg who called him a mass murderer. Technically a mass murderer has to kill 4 or more and he only killed 2 and wounded one.
1
@nathansandberg3390 they would not call me a killer for defending myself in my own home. Unlikely he would have been killed by his "attacker" if he had stayed home where he belonged. The only reason he is not in jail today is because the judge would not allow the recordings of him saying he wanted to kill protestors prior to his actually doing it.
1
@nathansandberg3390 Difference might be that I would not be going on regular appearances at FOX and going to conservative gatherings to proclaim myself the poster boy for shooting home invaders. I would feel horrible about taking a human life and stay out of the public limelight until I was forgotten. Matter of fact your statement that "that has been done as well" makes my point because I have no idea who you are talking about.

@SomeDumbSpider Then stop voting for Trump if you are so worried about race relations. But you are not worried about race relations are you?
1
@jtstevenson81 If by race relations deteriorating under Obama you mean Trump's birther movement riled up a bunch of racist white people then yes. Notice how there have been no riots since Rump left office?
