@mnemonija I understand that our media has done a horrible job of informing the populace. Many battery advances not only reduce the use of lithium many will replace it. The actual future is carbon based batteries. Carbon-Ion (C-IonTM) is the name for a new category of energy storage that uses nano-carbons and ionic electrolytes. This allows the device to work safely at higher voltages, which in turn offers the potential to increase energy density and bring it closer to that of lithium-ion battery. there is also: The graphene aluminum-ion battery cells from the Brisbane-based Graphene Manufacturing Group (GMG) are claimed to charge up to 60 times faster than the best lithium-ion cells and hold three time the energy of the best aluminum-based cells.

@Jon Don't worry just as the Japanese forced American car manufacturers to change China will do the same regarding green energy.

On the bright side we will have solid state batteries to amount of lithium. That coupled with advances in other battery technologies will reduce the need for it.
