I hope Minnesota taxpayers are ready for the millions of dollars in lawsuits coming their way.

@momof4kids735 There is a reason fascism is a right wing philosophy. They are always willing to surrender personal freedoms in favor of some dictator claim of "law and order". Everything that happened last night was a direct violation of the constitution of the United States and you are cheerleading that fact. There is no such thing as state sanctioned press. MSNBC and FOX reporters have the same rights as independent press not more. On top of that there was no curfew so the arrests were illegal and telling the press to vacate the premises is also illegal.

Straight up

They know who the press is because they wear vests with large letter saying PRESS. In addition they are the ones with the cameras. Last I checked it is not illegal for any American citizen to be on a public street and filming. Keep in mind there was no curfew last night so they can't even use that as an excuse.

@momof4kids735 Why don't you google the constitution. The state can not arbitrability decide whether or not they want to follow the law of the land.

@momof4kids735 Here you go. Perhaps you are not aware of the laws of the United States. Here it is in a nutshell for you. Legal Definition of freedom of the press : the right to publish and disseminate information, thoughts, and opinions without restraint or censorship as guaranteed under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

@vvnstn True, but I am seeing something new. I watched it all live and now they are straight up attacking the press and forcing them out of the area. This is new in the US and heralds a very dark future if it goes unanswered.

@momof4kids735 If this is true then shame on you for being so ignorant.

Jon was lucky they were distracted. Be certain that if all the press refused the cops would have started busting heads and arresting them. They had already arrested member of the press the night before.

Jon did a great job. It was very hard watching the 1st amendment end as the police state begins.

@momof4kids735 Actually yes. Anyone can be press. Take authoritarian countries for example where the only press is state sanctioned. The true press are the individuals willing to put their lives on the line to document the atrocities being committed by the state so that the world will know the truth. Our founding fathers understood this and that is why we have the first FIRST amendment. Of utmost importance to a functioning democracy is freedom of the press and freedom of the people to assemble. Minnesota cops are stomping over everything our country is founded on. Finally I leave you with this final fact. Google it if you doubt me. Anyone can become a journalist, because anyone has the tools to broadcast news information to the public. The public is also heavily relying on social media platforms as a means of learning news information.
