@noelleonard2498 Why are people not able to understand that you can build in the desert if you have a source of water. If the water dries up due to climate change then that is a global problem not a local one. We have lots of water in Florida and yet we have had water shortages and that problem will get worse as we get more climate refugees moving here to try and escape the heat and draught.

You folks don't seem to get it. Yes you can create reservoirs and dam rivers for water. The point is that the water is drying up due to shifting weather patterns caused by global warming. That is why it is a worldwide problem and not a local one.

@roseroses7576 Was talking about the power grid. Texas has privatized their power and disconnected from the national power grid. That is why they were unable to deliver power during emergencies like the severe winter storms they had. So if temps increase in Texas people will lose power because of increased demand same as they did during the winter storms. Trust me I worry about what is happening in the West because it is global and affects us all. These are frightening times.

Hmmm I wonder if the storms are more intense than normal? In Florida we are behind in annual rainfall. This is our rainy season and it should have been raining daily. Instead it did not rain til the middle of June and when it does it is infrequent and severe. We rarely get light rainfall anymore just storms.

Yes evaporation is a big part of the problem, but shifting weather patterns are changing the way rain distributes the water back to us. Now the Midwest gets no rain while other states that had moderate rainfalls will have floods.

@ashleybenitez992 Ashley, we are all adults here. It's not a question of "building in a desert" or "being prepared for this". This is the result of climate change and I agree our country should have been prepared for this because they were aware this would happen since at least the 70's. It is not a matter of where you build as much as it is do you have a water supply. 50 years ago water was not an issue, but as our lakes, streams etc. continue to recede from lack of rainfall the water is no longer available. Even Florida is having water issues because this is a global problem.
