@LandonKortis Can we please stop this foolishness? Had the federal government instituted a nation wide lockdown for 6 weeks early on while doing contact tracing , testing and providing financial assistance to Americans we would be fine now. The reason we are screwed is because it was left up to the individual states to come up with a plan and they all varied. The government failed us on an epic scale.

@insearchof76 The virus is here to stay because of the failure of the federal government to take action early on. To say it is impossible to deal with this virus is to ignore what is happening in other countries that have been successful.

@sandiemom8888 To make it worse they flock to states like Florida that has no restrictive measures, gather in large numbers and return home with the virus. Our complete lack of a cohesive plan by the federal government has done us in.

@kevinosullivan5549 Lack of lockdown has not helped Florida. All that has happened is our population knows the virus is spreading out of control and they are afraid to go out. Lockdown or not. Add to that the horde of virus deniers who flock here to spread disease and you can get an idea of what is really happening. Our state supplies little to no assistance to all the failing small business in Florida.

Herd immunity is achieved by protecting people from a virus, not by exposing them to it. Attempts to reach ‘herd immunity’ through exposing people to a virus are scientifically problematic and unethical. Letting COVID-19 spread through populations, of any age or health status will lead to unnecessary infections, suffering and death. Only two hacks working in Trumps administration push the idea of herd immunity through anything but vaccination. Ok to any confused I was responding to the first comment about herd immunity being achieved by exposing people to the virus. Of course I understand that herd immunity can be achieved with the use of vaccines. The other method would have an unacceptable loss to the public.
