As a vaccinated person I can only speak for myself and my friends and family who are also vaccinated. We wear masks when in crowds to show solidarity and support for my fellow citizens. I am aware then when I appear in public without a mask others do not know if I am vaccinated or not.

Are you kidding? It took decades to convince the majority of people that smoking was bad for them. It involved a long ongoing campaign and banning of smoking indoors to get where we are today.

The actual count is ten times the official count. You will have to google it yourself since we are not allowed to link anymore.

@ullasbisleri3559 It's not my google findings. It's well accepted. What they do is compare recorded deaths from years that precede the pandemic and compare them with deaths during the pandemic. When they do that they find there are over 4 million more deaths during the pandemic than previous years.

@ullasbisleri3559 Keep in mind my friend that India has not had access to vaccine and have a massive tightly packed population. So again unless you think Indians are some kind of super race then there is no way they have such a low death toll.

@ullasbisleri3559 Really? Going to make this about race? Actually if you looked into it you would find there is undereporting in other countries as well. It's just that India is being touted as some kind of model to follow due to the low reported death toll. Although death tolls are higher than reported in most countries it is not a factro of ten. There is a big difference between a reported death toll of 414,000 and the actual toll of 4.9 million. To put that in perspective the official world wide death toll is 5 million. meanwhile in reality close to 5 million have died in India alone.

What do you do about the anti vax individuals who think getting everyone sick will create herd immunity? I'm sure you understand that there are individuals who deliberately spread the virus. How many of them are there? Who knows, but we know they are out there.

@azaleataylor8031 Oh god you people are so sad. Taiwan shut border and required 2 weeks of quarantine for anyone entering the country. They had sever mask, social distancing and contact tracing procedures. Taiwan was very aggressive in the early stages to prevent the spread of covid. Cases are rising as they allow travel to and from Taiwan. Taiwan was among a group of fortunate countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, and Singapore, whose citizens went about business as usual as tight borders, strict quarantine rules, and excellent contract tracing kept the virus at bay.

@azaleataylor8031 How did Taiwan suppress this wave of COVID-19 transmission, even as Australia, Vietnam, and Singapore are struggling with an uptick of the virus? First, Taiwan doubled down on longstanding strategies of masking, quarantine measures, and contact tracing. Long before this wave, as early as April 2020, Taiwan had already instituted mask mandates on public transportation. The government extended the mask mandate to everybody on the island and required its citizens to wear a mask outside their home. Moreover, Taiwan extended its quarantine facilities for those entering the country from abroad to domestic COVID-19 patients. Many local governments began providing options for anyone testing positive to quarantine in a government-provided hotel or facility. The provision of quarantine facilities significantly reduced transmission of the virus within the family, thus reducing the number of cases in the community.

@azaleataylor8031 I get it this is scary stuff. The good news is that the vaccines are proven to prevent hospitalization and severe illness. The reality in Singapore is not nearly as severe as the grim picture you paint however. You will be happy to know this is the case in Singapore. As of Wednesday, a total of 20,895 people in Singapore are recovering from COVID-19 in their own homes. Meanwhile, 4,589 are in community care facilities and 849 are in treatment facilities, while 1,777 are in hospital for observation, the MOH statement added. All will recover thanks to vaccination.
