  1. The young do not have any memory of Soviet days. They have no idea what they are in for. When I first went to Russia 20 years ago I was surprised at the level of paranoia still felt by the older generation. For instance the flat I stayed in had a motion sensor for a light in the communal hallway. They older residents kept turning it off because they were convinced it was a camera and was spying on them.

  3. What a shame. Russians were seeing such an improvement in their daily lives and now they will be thrown back to the stone age as they were during the soviets. Putin has shafted his own people and they don't realize how bad it will get.
