  1.  @shtein4476  We confuse Democracy with freedom. Simply ask do you feel you can vote for politicians who represent you or are placed there by the state? In truth Russia and US are nearly in the same boat. We are oligarchies it is simply a matter of how authoritarian the state is. Luckily for the US our president cannot serve more than 8 years. The longer they stay in power the more authoritarian they become.
