All Whitney did was make improvements to an already existing machine. Until this time cotton was not a major crop because of the difficulty of separating the cotton from the hulls. Slaves were for the most part much better treated than the northern factory workers. in many places such as New Orleans there were more free blacks than slaves and many who were slaves were so only in the nominal sense. Many of them conducted their own affairs and made their own money. About 26% of free blacks owned slaves while only ap. 5% of whites did.

@travishylton6976 Slavery was only brought up bas an excuse later on after the war had been going on for quite some time. If the northern troops had thought for a minute that they were fighting to free slaves then they would have all left in mass. The war was instigated by the northern manufactures (and their puppet politicians) in order to maintain high import tariffs and also to keep the south from being a viable competitor in the coming westward expansion. We even have letters from the sodomite Lincoln’s cabinet members to prove it. You may also look at the northern congress Committee For the Conduct of The War. The War of Northern Aggression could have easily been avoided by the north by just lowering the unconstitutional tariffs as southern delegates attempted to negotiate on four occasions before the war in which Lincoln would not even meet with.

Only 5%of whites in the Antebellum South owned slaves. most slaves were on large plantations where in many cases they ran the entire operation with almost no whites around. At one point the largest slave owner in the Charleston area was a former black slave. Slavery had nothing to do with the “War of northern Aggression” but rather it was the unconstitutional tariffs (some as high as 200%) damaging the Southern economy and the north’s desire to prevent the South from gaining independence and so presenting competition to the Northern manufactures and industrialists.
