The fact that it is up for debate, or that the question gets asked every year, lets you know it is NOT a christmas movie. When you see a christmas movie, you know immediately. Also, none of the sequels of the series are christmas movies either. Die Hard is an action movie franchise

@HELLRZR-nm3vv You miss the point, he could have been going to her work's new years party, it could have been her big promotion party, it could be the boss's birthday party. Swap christmas out with anything and the movie is the same. Christmas is a crutch. Saying Die Hard was a Christmas movie was a troll game invented many years ago, but some how people don't know about it being a troll game, and it has spun out of control lol. Good luck finding Die Hard in your local Christmas section. It's a troll. You've been trolled.

@HELLRZR-nm3vv It’s a great example of the internet getting carried away with a joke. “Die Hard is a Christmas Movie” is a meme meant to troll people. First of all, the movie came out in July, and unless I’m mistaken, Christmas wasn’t originally part of the script, which had been floating around Hollywood for quite some time. Unlike other Christmas movies, like The Santa Claus, the sequels to Die Hard never again used Christmas as part of the plot. Wonder why? Maybe because back when the movie came out nobody thought of it as a Christmas movie and nobody saw that element as central to the plot. The reason I say this is a meme meant to troll people is people who love Christmas, especially Christians, are always worried there is some war or assault on their holiday. That people are trying to diminish symbols associated with it. Anything from saying “Happy Holidays” to people who get stressed when they see a race-bent Santa Claus. Die Hard is a pretty secular movie that treats Christmas as something that is just going on in the background. There’s no reason to believe that Christmas matters to any of the characters in this film, or that anyone has any particular reverence for it. So when you say “Die Hard is my favorite Christmas movie” it is akin to saying “Happy Holidays” to all the dorks that would say something like Fred Claus.

@HELLRZR-nm3vv The script writer threw in Christmas to help explain plot points.. Such as why was he in town, why was the company having a party. The movie uses Christmas as a crutch. When asked if it is a Christmas movie, lead actor Bruce Willis said hell no, its a bruce willis action movie. You have all been trolled by something we started as a prank on the internet years and years ago. It has grown out of proportion lol.. You need to learn the three circles. Takes place on christmas, is watched on christmas, is a christmas movie. You are confusing a movie that takes place on christmas that people now watch on christmas, as a christmas movie. If you take out the christmas and replace it with another plot device and you still have a movie left, not a christmas movie. If you have no movie left after doing that, its a christmas movie.
