@cadantic ok but were talking about two different things. this man is speaking about what is inarguably within the doctrine of the belief system, not what any individual follower believes. sam harris makes this distinction when he infamously talks about islam. that belief system specifically teaches the death penalty for apostasy and blasphemy, jihad, and other horrendous ideas. followers do not all accept or believe those doctrines. but they are certainly in the faith and it is not wrong to point that out, which is what this man was doing,. its been a minute since i studied LDS but i have personally met with missionaries and pointed out some racist statements and doctrines from the churches past which they swore wasnt true, only to admit they were wrong when i asked them to check the sources themselves and get back to me. this is partially due to the fact that the more controversial belief systems tend to not put the nasty parts of the faith on the brochure. many followers arent even aware.
