journalistic standards on the left?- matt taibbi and michael schellenberger would like a word sam.
27
this guy, who works for the totally non partisan brennan center, spent 40 minutes saying republicans bad, democrats good. ok then
18
only a small percentage act upon these violent ideas. but they support those who do. now do the math on one percent of 1.6 billion, if we use one percent as a possible number. do you feel safe?
14
woke, not a problem. christian nationalism? big problem. trust her.
12
this lady- "I'm not familiar with the editorial" (npr "in defense of looting") wtf?? well, that explains everything else in this trainwreck interview.
11
true, sam. joe rogan isnt a substitute for the new york times. joes track record is far better.

@xaviernogueira i think a nation under something resembling christian values is quite different from one under sharia law. we wouldn't be unaliving apostates or blasphemers for example. i think we had the former at some point here and we;ve evolved. abortion went to the states which constitutionalists seem to think is where it should be. gay marriage is legal. those two issues werent even part of the republican platform in 24. both parties have shifted left. america is the least religious it has ever been. hardly anyone goes to a church anymore. what makes you think we are going in the other direction?
6
@skovvy7 exactly. i became a moderate due to seeking out the opinions of those i thought i disagreed with,.
6
how so?
4
disagree. whether israel placates these zealots or fights them, the result is the same. you dont like the blockade of gaza? what would you do if you turned that land over to these people while forcing 9000 of your own people out, only to be rewarded by them launching 6000 rockets indiscriminately into your country? and how did that work out for israel?
4
other than the emotional fervor, dogma, and the prioritization of conformity over intellectual curiosity, its not that much like religion
4
@OolTube02 israel gave back sanai to egypt after they promised (again) to stop attacking israel. so far its worked. they didnt want gaza btw. in 2005 israel pulled every jewish person out of gaza. the palestinians responded by electing a group that has in its charter the 'obliteration' of israel and the unaliving of the jewish people (via an old ideological edict). these people then launched 6000 rockets into israel. then israel blockaded gaza.
4
examples would have helped. and being informed about far left lunacy
4
thank you
4
yes cuz everyone else in the idw lost their minds. not sam
4
why are you worried about christians?
3
democracy is at stake? again?
3
heres where you lose people- 'self serving liar' is quite literally (and demonstrably) the guy who was just in the white house. this makes you look out of touch,
3
id read the charter of hamas. rocks and trees...
3
how is sam deranged on the trans issue?
3
weaponizing the DOJ against political rivals with no accountability means its the end of democracy. been a good run.
3
nope. i'm with you
3
finally an example of something. thank you
2
@ i'm asking for something specific. whats happened that makes you say democracy is in peril?
2
@ i'm asking how democracy is in peril?
2
‘We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions.' does mr gellman have any criticism for NPR, the outlet he's sat down with for interviews several times since then?
2
perfectly stated. thank you
2
@zenlandzipline sorry, not having to show ID is absurd. it has zero to do with race.
2
@ allegedly "aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)" sound so good, no?
2
holy crap. i had no idea this was the same person.
2
@stewartdando7755 i think what he said about the laptop rubbed people the wrong way.
2
and some jews. a catholic or two as well
2
why did israel do that? theres your answer
2
i agree with sam over dave on israel but i agree with your general point. lots of drive by's but few specifics. at least he talked to shapiro. would love to see him talk to rfk or bret
2
a huge percentage of them agree with hamas.
2
but it is bad
2
no comprendo. i'm an independant cuz i dont agree with the extremes of the parties. whats the issue with trans activism or politics?
2
@bobdillaber1195 thats not an answer, its an ad hominen. i asked the question for a reason. what do you think i'm hoping for?
2
@chadmoodybto4620 agreed
2
@chadmoodybto4620 you should repost it at the top
2
kind of what i thought as well. since when is so called christian nationalism a threat? this country and all great countries have been based on christian values for petes sake.
2
well said
2
thank you . that part was especially stunning. an ad hominem if three ever was one.
2
or the right isnt really heading toward christian nationalism?
2
@Robespierre-lI true. i'm fascinated by this separation between sam and literally every other former IDW member (unless im unaware of one he still agrees with on these major isseus)
2
sam might want to talk again with matt taibbi about rene diresta
2
you mean college?
2
@jaarneal i think thats because, at its core, the ideology of hamas, and to an extent other countries surrounding israel, is the source of the problem. thats not to say israel has been blameless- sam has pointed this out. benny morris has been critical of israels action in the west bank. but whatever flaws israel has are dwarfed by the intentions and beliefs of its neighbors.
2
@ you criticized the idea. how many unarmed black men are shot annually by cops?
2
well said. sam think the entire IDW went nuts apparently. very odd.
