i was a Marine Corps reservist right out of high school. going active duty is, of course, much more of a sacrifice than going reserve. and it gets much easier when you climb the ranks. at the end, it was a relatively easy paycheck and even fun one weekend a month. i'll add, we were activated for the gulf and i did in fact serve "in war"
