  1. retarded means slowed-down, you can get away with it, but it has to be done correctly. learning and mentally, literally retarded people, know that it is used derogatorily to make fun of someone behaving immaturely or ignorantly and do not appreciate it. i've worked with the learning disabled and that word was never used, even among the lowest functioning individuals.your over-use of the word is your choice, and people get what you mean,but there are other adjective that describe these "hipsters"
