There is a case for social minimalism, but the ability to socialize authentically and even vulnerably at times, is the greatest of pass-times. Christopher McCandless was a young adult fed up with society and materialism, and decided to go venture off into the wild on a two year trip that had him traveling and eventually camping out in the middle of the Alaskan outback. After eating some poisonous berries and falling terminally ill, he wrote "Happiness is only real when shared." Happiness is like a tree that falls in the forest when nobody is around to hear it; there is a vibration, but it only becomes a sound when there is an eardrum or two to capture the vibration/frequency.

sometimes when i'm feelin' wild n adventurous i'll buy groceries at a grocery store i've never been to, but that's about the extent of my exploration of the terra incognita ;)

@robfromvan that's innocently funny enough, but he actually did. He went to Arizona, Denali National Park, the Slabs, Detrital Wash, and eventually hitchiked to the Stampede Trail. "According to his journal, for 114 days, Chris lived in what he called his "magic bus." Poor guy accidentally ate some poisonous flora or fauna and "By the end, he had written that "death looms" and he was "too weak to walk out." (He was not far from a road but a river he crossed over in fall/winter turned into a mighty wide rapid by Spring and "He wrote that he had "literally become trapped in the wild." McCandless has been criticized for being selfish and unprepared for his trip." I think his life was a masterpiece of a message (that probably wouldn't have translated so well into print or onto the screen if it weren't for his unfortunate and tragic circumstances.
