  1. The aircraft attempted a landing three times at Grozny due to severe fog. It was on the third attempt, the missile impacted. Russia then refused the aircraft to land at two other places in Russia & directed it to fly over the Caspian Sea to Kazakhstan, presumably in the hope it went down over water, thus removing evidence of their guilt.
