Europe has no choice BUT to fully support Ukraine & it DOES have the financial resources to do so without the US. What it lacks so far is the WILL.

@allymac18 Europe has a LOT of money & what I want to know is why isn't it being used to buy all that surplus military equipment from the US & sending it to Ukraine. This doesn't have to be the EU: Independent states can join together & fund these purchases.

@ztirf49 OK, so negotiate a deal for European nations to club together & BUY the ammunition Ukraine needs. Heck, it's costing the US more than $5,000 PER SHELL to decommission 155mm DPICM so they should be giving the stuff away & they have several million in inventory. Lets BUY every 155mm artillery piece they can spare. Why the heck SHOULD the US be shouldering the burden of keeping Ukraine in existence if Europe as a whole can't get its act together?

@allymac18 That's a real annoyance regarding US aid to Ukraine - It's the 'inventory value' they quote when saying how much aid is sent, rather than the true, market value (based on the latter, US military aid to Ukraine is actually less than $10bn). An M113 is worth maybe $25k at best on the open market.

@SCH292 So BUY what's needed from the US.

@BrugersUK Let's supply more then. I donated 6 months of my time in advising & more than £20k worth of optics paid for out of my own pocket. I expect my government to dig far deeper, as this is NOT just about Ukraine but rather the rule of law, democracy & freedom. Those three are beyond price.

@TankandDimples Agreed. That was one thing the Orange Dude DID get right but most of Europe chose to belittle the only piece of wisdom he ever offered.

@playedout148 Fact free nonsense & straight from the ultra-capitalist play-book. Europe is over populated, Russia isn't.
3
@VerdeLantern Well said & absolutely correct.
2
@lillibitjohnson7293 That's why I said Europe, not the EU. The EU has the power to suspend Hungary's voting rights & in this instance, it's fully justified, so they should do do & pass the funding. Time is of the essence.

@ztirf49 IF Europe so desired, it could've been producing 2-3 million 155mm shells a year by now. There's huge amounts of precision engineering capacity capable of producing arms & ammunition which could've been expanding over the past two years but our leaders sat with their thumbs up their bums for more than a year. They need to realise that ammunition being supplied to Ukraine NOW will ensure they don't need ten times as much a few years down the road when Putin or his fascist successor goes after the Baltic states or Moldova (if Ukraine is demilitarised, it then Moldova will fall before the end of the decade).

@yyyy-uv3po Ignore the EU, as like Covid, it's bogged down in bureaucracy when ACTION is needed. There's nothing stopping individual states clubbing together & buying arms & ammunition from the US, with no need to wait for the EU to stop yakking.

@antimatters6283 The issue is in persuading the US (especially the neo-fascist MAGA part) that supporting Ukraine is in the US' interest. Unfortunately, those dummies don't realise giving a green light to Putin does the same for Xi, Maduro & Fat Boi Kim & THEN we'll see the cost in US lives & military expenditure they think they're avoiding.
1
@jessefisher1809 So PAY the US MIC to produce what's needed.

@nevco8774 Note that ammunition manufactured in South Korea is of very high quality. It's the NK stuff which is dubious.

@monopalle5768 No, it hasn't
