Man trying to find your first job in today's labor market is an absolute blast. Getting ghosted after interviews is amazing
1500
@jesse_- Bold of you to assume that anybody cares for making the future better and not just lining their own pockets
80
@jeremymizer8958 Here if you don't have "experience" they want you to do an internship first, but they also don't want you to work for them at all so ghosting it is, usually. Just fun recession times I suppose
62
Who would've thought that the rich taking all of the finite resources would end up badly for the non-rich, certainly not me
37
The future is now
20
And yet literally everything is locked behind a degree nowadays
16
@asw654 What's wrong about pointing out what's wrong with society? The more awareness there is the better
16
@snark567 Y'all got unique skills and ideas? Where do I find that?
15
Me cooking my marshmallows over the dumpster fire that is society:
13
@snark567 Is there nothing easier than finding something you're interested in that could make money? If so then I guess I'm screwed 😂
13
@linzhao2235 "It is arguably the best decade of one’s life! Because you are in the primer of your career!" haha, as somebody in their early 20s without college that can't even find minimum wage work this made me chuckle a little
9
@niewazneniewazne1890 Well it's still probably better than being homeless and starving I suppose
9
@BruceLee-xn3nn I mean there's nothing wrong with using something until it's no good anymore, it's certainly better than today's over-consumption we see so frequently
9
A robbery in broad daylight
8
@stevezelaznik5872 I wonder which is harder, searching for your first job in 2008 or in 2023 as an unskilled immigrant, in a country that hates immigrants
8
@Sin_Alder Just the good old conundrum of having no work experience No experience = no work No work = no experience
8
It's all good and well until even minimum wage becomes locked behind a degree. Why would anybody hire a HS graduate when there's billions of people with degrees that can't find jobs they studied for so they end up in lower jobs anyway?
6
@skeezix8156 I know a guy that mostly solo built his home and he's 30. They do exist apparently
5
How dare people feel entitled to even just minimum wage work. You're supposed to "own nothing and be happy" smh
3
@Brian-lc1zt And yet college isn't even that bad because having a degree is more or less the new minimum. Otherwise enjoy flipping burgers I guess (or trades if you went into that)
3
@jesse_- "because I know many children of immigrants that grew up with nothing and they built a lot of wealth." Pfft, try being an immigrant fresh out of high school. Good luck getting a job or going to college
2
@JD-vj4go they want all of the benefits and none of the cons
2
@dVector13 As somebody who's facing the same difficulties as your cousin, good luck to both of you
2
Ah yes, the real time abolition of retirement
1
13:27 Nobody: Being born in a poor family, in a poor country:
1
@frankgrimes7388 Yes, it's my fault that both the economy and higher education is absolutely fucked, how dare I
1
@marving.8868 Heck, at least an automated email works...
1
@evmarekaj Nope, am not
1
@adrienneb.4710 I'm on a sort of government recruiting program but I haven't tried that kind of recruiters yet. Might look into it, thank you
1
@XERXESDOE I guess it varies greatly between regions and types/races of immigrants, in my case it just so happens to be worst case scenario I suppose
1
@GoBrosConstruction I know right, employers are practically on their knees begging people to work for them
1
@agentsbigassforehead Seems like you're in the small minority then, most people have had this problem
1
@agentsbigassforehead That's only a part of it. There are places where you can't even find minimum wage...
1
@tico-k9y You know what's even worse than Europe? Being an unskilled immigrant inside Europe, in a country that blatantly hates immigrants
1
Well it is infinite for the rich that own everything, or well, at least until they exhaust the working class. After that I guess it's time for another quick revolution. Thank you Capitalism 👍
1
@thadlm2698 Just have your parents cover college 4head
