@anhtuyettran2531 Well if you've watched any videos covering the gaoko, apparently Chinese students study for this exam since little, it's literally the most important thing in their early life and you could even get disowned for scoring low on it. A single exam (a school exam nonetheless, those are known for being total bs) is deciding the lives of god knows how many young people, I won't be explaining further than this

@austinli8891 That's what I meant when I said that it's bullshit. Before to get a job you needed to just go to a place, give a handshake and you're in. Now to get a job you need 15 different kinds of degrees for the most basic of work and I'd imagine it's not even a fraction as bad as it is over at China... The only work that should be tied to education is very specialized work, something that you can't learn on the go, like being a doctor for example, everything else is just gatekeeping. Also resources should be always spread among everybody, not just the people that pass some arbitrary written test... That stuff is just so backwards

Man it's just incredible how overrated school actually is, and not just in China, but the entire world in general. In some places around the world make or break tests like this one are even glorified. I hate this entire gatekeeping system, just let people do whatever they want
