Is it normal to not be able to function in subjects that you're not interested in? Like for example not being able to pay any attention during those subjects and every time you try to study for a test for example, you just keep blankly staring at the material while thinking of other stuff. There were subjects I liked and thus was able to be on top without even having to crank out a book or anything, but as soon as it comes down to the other subjects I'm not interested in there's nothing I can do to prevent failure. Best compromise I can make is power studying maybe a few hours before the test, if I'm even able to pay any attention to the subject at all to begin with, which actually usually goes pretty well but these scenarios are extremely rare. Actually, in hindsight there is no way this is normal but I'm curious about where exactly this falls as a problem. Is it laziness? Is it ADD? Is it arrogancy? PS: I was never considered a "gifted child" (or I suppose there were instances where I was called gifted in the subjects I excelled/was interested in), yet I still find myself facing these exact same problems, but this may very well just be nothing more than a product of depression
