  2. In any civil war, what the army decide to do, and the loyalty within its ranks, is often the kingmaker. Typically, the army just does their duty and continues to get paid by the government. Since I don't think the Dems are at risk of starting a civil war by firing the first shots, its not their style, there is strong chance the army would side with the Democratic government. In which case, one billion AR-15s are no match for the equipment the army can bring to bear. In Ukraine, artillery backed with drones is the main threat. Also, I question whether all nuclear weapons can be kept secure in a civil war. After all, nuking a city in your own country is not against any international treaty.

  4. And the reason is both sides now have a 'total war' mindset. Democracy only work well when the winning side acknowledges they did not get 100% of the vote and then gives the losing side some things they wanted - say they got 40% they bend on 40% of the issues. Getting 60% of the vote and using it as an excuse to tread on the other 40% always leads to perpetual civil war, as evidenced in other countries.
