  1. My impression is that Lucas was not so enamored with the whole Hero's Journey thing because it was too close to various brands of spirituality. The prequels cut out that stuff and the force became some blood parasite etc. I contest that actual reason IV, V and VI will last 1000 years is that they speak to what peoples hearts are searching but which their heads reject.
